1944 D-Day - Operation Overlord

1944 D-Day : Operation Overlord is an unreleased game created by Frantic Games. The game is supposed to be very realistic, including a 1:1 24 hour clock and no in-game HUD. It covers the entire Normandy Campaign on a 160 kilometer by 160 kilometer map. There are many playable nations and the game currently features over 200 tanks, ships, planes, and artillery. The developers stated that 255,000 units can by in a server at one time and 128 to 256 maximum players.

Gameplay

Classes (Players will not select classes but rather units, but the following classes will be available): Infantryman [All types], Paratrooper, Pilots, Crewman [Tanks, Artillery, Anti-Air, etc.], Medic, Photographer, Priest

Nations: Germany, United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand

Controls: Infantry will have options to lower, shoulder, raise, and drop weapons. Players can also look through the weapons sights, which does not zoom the view but rather straightens it. Players can pick up objects, such as injured teamates. Players can use a revolutionary system to "talk" to the AI. The AI can respond to basic questions such as "Where are you from?". Players can implement stealth by telling players to be quiet. A more useful implementation is by shouting orders. Another way of giving orders is by pulling a map, if you have one, out of your equipment and using the mouse to draw directions. An in-game HUD will not be featured, rather the player must open his backpack to view his equipment, such as ammunition. In-game VOIP will also be featured.

Features: The game will feature everything at the time of the invasion, including Swastikas. The Game starts at 00:00 on June 6, at which point players can choose their unit. The gameplay is a true-to-war slow pace with bursts of action. Their are no objectives other than victory. Towns and other landmarks will not be "captured" but high command will be notified. The commanders will issue orders and it is up to the AI and players to follow them. The map can be view from a overview standpoint, which features monopoly-like buildings that are accurate to Normandy.

Single Player allows the player to play offline and save games. Single Player is the best way to gain ranks and how to receive training, unlocking weapons and roles for the player. Servers will be provided by Frantic Games and will start periodically. It does not matter what timezone you are in, servers will we started when they are started.
